The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice had the pleasure of hosting a Slovenian delegation, organized jointly with the Polish-Slovenian Association, the Triglav – Rysy Business Club and the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. It was a unique event that brought together representatives of Slovenian business, Polish companies, as well as key institutions from Poland and Slovenia.

 

 

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to establish new business relationships and better understand the specifics of the Slovenian market. The event was also attended by member companies of RIG Katowice, such as:

President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia, Tomasz Zjawiony, warmly welcomed the participants to the meeting, stressing the importance of international business cooperation in developing sectors of the economy.

 

 

Katowice – Leader in Investment and Development

Mariusz Jankowski, Head of the Investor Service Department of the Katowice City Hall, and Michal Zeman, Chief Specialist from the Silesian Investor and Exporter Service Center, presented the participants with the business environment in Poland. They emphasized that Katowice was among the top large European regions in terms of its strategy for attracting foreign direct investment and business-friendly climate.

 

Katowice was also recognized as a European Entrepreneurial Region in 2021-2022 and a European City of Science in 2024. Also noteworthy is the Katowice Gaming & Technology Hub project, which received funding in November 2023, with an investment value of up to $200 million. The technology hub, which is being built on the site of a former mine, will bring together entrepreneurs from e-sports, gaming and technology companies, which is in line with the development of modern technology in the region.

 

Strengthening Polish-Slovenian Relations

During the meeting, Bartlomiej Babuska, President of the Upper Silesian Fund S.A., spoke about the numerous projects organized by the fund to support regional business and strengthen international cooperation.

 

In turn, Matej Hojnik, President of the Triglav – Rysy Business Club Association, shared his impressions of his first visits to Poland, noting how impressed he was with the economic development of our country. He presented the activities of the association, whose main goal is to unite the interests of Slovenian and Polish companies, deepen cooperation and represent the interests of more than 50 companies from both countries. Triglav – Rysy Business Club offers its members consulting, networking events and support in education and training on doing business in both countries.

 

Andreja Mulec Bohinc of SPIRIT Slovenia Business Development Agency presented the activities of the agency, which acts as a one-stop shop for companies and investors interested in doing business in Slovenia. The agency supports the export of Slovenian companies and the attraction of foreign direct investment, and offers strategic and operational advice to foreign companies interested in entering the Slovenian market.

 

Natalija Stošicki, Director of Strategic Development and Internationalization at Gospodarska Zbornica Slovenije (GZS), presented key industries and smart solutions available in Slovenia, such as automotive, smart factories, green technologies, and machinery and equipment for the food industry. She also stressed the importance of Poland as one of Slovenia’s main trading partners, with Poland ranking 7th in terms of exports and 10th in terms of imports.

 

Networking time!

 

After the substantive part, Polish and Slovenian companies had the opportunity to present their activities, and then participated in a networking session, including individual 1:1 meetings, which allowed for closer cooperation and exchange of valuable experience.

 

The meeting was another step in strengthening economic ties between Poland and Slovenia, offering the opportunity to make new contacts, build long-term business relationships and exchange knowledge and experience on the specifics of both markets. Joint activities and partnerships between companies from Poland and Slovenia can contribute to the dynamic development of both economies and strengthen their position on the international arena.
