We are experiencing another communication revolution. The rapid development of new technologies and the growing influence of Internet creators raises numerous questions about the future of the public relations industry in the context of frequent image crises or information hyperinflation. These most topical issues will be discussed by experts at this year’s PR Congress, to be held on 19-20 September in Rzeszów.
When US company OpenAI launched the now famous ChatGPT on 30 November 2022, probably few realised how much the technology would change our reality. After all, the algorithm, which users initially used only for natural-sounding conversations, represented a new stage in the development of artificial intelligence.
– Change has affected many aspects of our reality. On the one hand, we have been given a tool to increase our productivity; on the other, we have been faced with the challenge of reorganising our work. Along with many opportunities come threats – says Konrad Fijołek, Mayor of the City of Rzeszów. – This is why today we particularly need a substantive discussion among experts on the impact of technology on our lives. It is good that such a discussion will be held in September in Rzeszów, which is, after all, the capital of innovation. We need both modern solutions and responsible reflection on their consequences – he adds.

Social challenges in the age of AI
The issue of artificial intelligence is worth looking at more broadly, not just in a professional context. After all, AI technology affects our functioning on a much deeper level. It is not only issues of efficiency, indicators or innovation, but also cultural or social consequences.
This is why the programme of the XXIV PR Congress includes the lecture 'Information avalanches as a factor in the psychosocial crisis of employees’, which will be delivered by Dr Mariusz Jędrzejko from the Piotrkowska Academy, the speech 'Man as individuality. Internal relations of the future in a company in the age of artificial intelligence’ by Monika Bednarek – former president of Eurozet, for 25 years involved in the Polish and European media market – or the presentation 'Underestimated responsibility and ethos of communication – children’s rights in the age of the information society’ by Dr Konrad Ciesiołkiewicz of the Orange Foundation. These are extremely topical topics in an age of technology and information noise.
PR Congress – the most important event in the sector
The Congress will also address issues related to the specifics of contemporary online communication. „The use of memes in brand communication” – a speech by Joanna Ceplin, CEO of the Institute of Online Brands and Communication – or the presentation „The use of influencers in public relations activities” by Michalina Grzesiak, owner of the Story not Sorry agency, are other lecture topics to be delivered during the event. The Congress will also be complemented by debates organised by the Polish Public Relations Association and the Association of Public Relations Agencies.
