Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice organized for the eighteenth time the Papal Concert (Koncert Papieski), which took place in the charming Hall of Mirrors of the Castle Museum in Pszczyna. This is a unique event to honor the memory of John Paul II.
On April 2, 2005, Pope John Paul II died, which was a special moment in Polish history, uniting society in grief and reflection. Since then, the Katowice Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice has organized Pope Concerts every year, recalling the words and thoughts of Karol Wojtyla and paying tribute to his legacy.
This year’s concert brought together many distinguished personalities, including MP Miroslawa Nykiel, Deputy Mayor of Pszczyna Magdalena Czarnecka, President of Bielsko-Biała Jaroslaw Klimaszewski, RIG Honorary President Tadeusz Donocik and other distinguished guests. The Mirror Room was filled to the brim, which testified to the great interest and warm reception of the event.

– Often we don’t have time to “breathe” and reflect. I hope that this day today will be such a moment, where everyone will ask themselves whether it is worth it, what is worth it and why. – emphasized the President of RIG in Katowice, Tomasz Zjawiony, opening the concert.
A time of reflection and honors
During the concert, a unique symbolic moment took place. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry honored its long-time President, and now Honorary President, Tadeusz Donocik, for his “ethical attitude and education regarding the nurturing of timeless values and the promotion of good patterns of behavior that build the strength of the community.”
– It all started here in Pszczyna. The first editions of the Laurels were held in this very hall. When John Paul II died, the first ceremony commemorating him – the Pope’s Concert – was held here. Thomas also comes from Pszczyna. It was he who at one time invited Prime Minister Janusz Steinhoff and me to visit his school, so that we could, together with the young people of the time, draw on the models and experiences we had – recalled Tadeusz Donocik, receiving flowers and a symbolic graphic designed by Grzegorz Chudy from the hands of President Tomasz Zjawiony and Vice President Marlena Miąsko.

Concert of Piotr Cugowski
The evening was highlighted by the performance of Piotr Cugowski, who delighted those gathered with his vocal talent and deep interpretation. His performance moved the audience, adding an extraordinary atmosphere to the entire event.
The Papal Concert was co-financed by the Pszczyna Municipality, with support from Partners Pszczyna Castle Museum and PKO BP Bank.
This unique event has become a permanent part of the region’s cultural calendar, bringing people together to remember and reflect on the legacy of John Paul II.
