The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice and Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid have renewed their cooperation agreement, strengthening strategic interregional relations between Poland and Wales.
A new chapter in international cooperation
The decision to renew the agreement comes in the context of dynamic changes in international trade, especially after Brexit and in the face of the redefinition of European relations. The United Kingdom remains one of Poland’s key trading partners – in 2024, the value of trade in goods and services between the countries amounted to £30.6 billion.
Cooperation between the chambers aims not only to strengthen institutional ties, but above all to create concrete development opportunities for entrepreneurs from both countries. The Regional Chamber of Commerce in Katowice, as one of the largest economic organizations in Poland, and Chambers Wales, which supports companies operating in 80% of Wales, want to build bridges of cooperation in a dynamically changing business environment.
The agreement is also a natural extension of the cooperation agreement signed last year between the Silesian Province and the Welsh Government. The renewed agreements lay the foundations for joint initiatives, the organization of economic missions and trade delegations, as well as the exchange of knowledge in key sectors such as digital innovation, education, green energy, natural sciences, manufacturing, and tourism.
– – This partnership is key to long-term cooperation at the level of chambers and entrepreneurs. By working together, we are opening doors for our companies not only in Wales and Silesia, but around the world. In this way, we are building bridges of opportunity, strengthening regional economies, and inspiring innovation through international cooperation – emphasized Tomasz Zjawiony, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice. – We look forward to transforming this renewed agreement into concrete actions that will strengthen the position of businesses, increase their resilience, and contribute to shared prosperity in Wales and Poland.
Gus Williams, Interim Chief Executive of Chambers Wales, added:
– – This agreement marks the continuation of a partnership that supports our members and partners in Wales and provides opportunities to connect, collaborate, and grow with our Polish counterparts. As the UK government secures a new deal with the European Union, our renewed MoU highlights the benefits of strong European relations for business and the scope for improving trade, growth, and knowledge transfer.
The renewal of cooperation between RIG in Katowice and Chambers Wales is a real opportunity and new possibilities for entrepreneurs from both countries
