As of 23 June this year. President of the Council of Ministers Donald Tusk appointed Agnieszka Majewska, hitherto Field Plenipotentiary of the SME Ombudsman in Gdańsk, to the post of Ombudsman for Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurs.

 

The SME Ombudsman is an independent body that upholds the rights of micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, representing them in disputes with the state administration and giving its opinion on draft legislation concerning economic matters. The term of office of the previous Ombudsman, Adam Abramowicz, expired in June. The new Ombudsman, in accordance with the Act, was appointed by the Prime Minister at the request of the Minister of Development and Technology, following an opinion on the candidacy by employers’ organisations. The Ombudsman’s term of office is six years.

 

Agnieszka Majewska completed administrative studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdańsk, where she obtained the degree of Master of Administration, and legal studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice, where she obtained the degree of Master of Law. In 2010, she passed the judicial examination and was entered on the list of legal advisers. She completed postgraduate studies in tax consultancy at the School of Banking in Gdańsk.

 

She is a legal adviser with 20 years of experience in the application of administrative and economic law. She has gained professional experience, among others, in the District Court in Gdańsk and in the Voivodship Administrative Court in Gdańsk. She cooperates with the WSB Merito University and the Social and Economic University in Gdańsk, where she teaches administrative proceedings. An expert in administrative law, she has given numerous presentations at scientific and popular science conferences.

 

From 2019 to 2024, she served as the Field Representative of the Ombudsman for Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurs in Gdańsk, conducting close dialogue and cooperation with employers’ organisations and the business environment. She successfully conducted numerous interventions in defence of entrepreneurs’ rights. She is a member of the Pomeranian Entrepreneurship Council and Vice-President of the Gdansk Entrepreneurship Council, as well as an expert in the Pomeranian Women’s Team.
