Those who do not want to fall behind the competition need to keep abreast of changes in the industry and current marketing trends. Thanks to the cooperation between the City of Katowice and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice, entrepreneurs from the region have had the opportunity to participate in free training and improve their chances in the market for four years.
This year’s Katowice Academy for Entrepreneur Development consisted of five two-day training sessions led by practitioners with many years of experience. The meetings were held at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice and the Rawa.Ink Municipal Business Incubator. They were open to companies registered in Katowice or with a physical location in the city (e.g., a branch office, a consulting point).
Topics discussed included an effective presence in social media, customer experience and the use of game elements in planning promotional activities, opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, legal aspects of marketing activities and the importance of building a personal brand.

Katowice Mayor Marcin Krupa notes the key role of entrepreneurs in the city:
– In Katowice, we pay special attention to creating friendly conditions for the development of local business. A growing sector of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises is an essential element in the sustainable development of the entire city. A milestone in this cooperation was the launch of the Rawa.Ink Municipal Business Incubator five years ago, but of course we do not stop designing further forms of support. In this aspect, we also listen to the voice of entrepreneurs, because they know best what they need for further development. That’s why we are constantly cooperating with the economic self-government and, together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice, we have once again become involved in training as part of the Katowice Academy for Entrepreneur Development.
– This is a great opportunity for companies to gain up-to-date knowledge from practitioners. The training focuses especially on marketing activities, and here, after all, there are constantly some changes, whether in the algorithms of the largest social networks, or new opportunities, thanks to the development of artificial intelligence – it is worthwhile to orient ourselves in this, so that the development of technology does not hinder our businesses, but helps them – adds Tomasz Zjawiony, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice.
Be like a celebrity – personal brand more important than product
The greatest value of the training courses in the series is to reach for topics that are timely, for new trends and approaches in marketing, and the lecturers are not only academics, but above all practitioners who understand the needs of entrepreneurs, as they have helped dozens of companies succeed and spread their wings.
– I participated in the training course “Build your personal brand on social media”, which opened my eyes to other aspects of social media presence than before. It is not enough to have knowledge or publish valuable content, to build your position online, but also more broadly, among potential customers. You need them to believe that they are dealing with an authority and an expert in their industry – thanks to the knowledge imparted by Kuba Nagorski, I know more about how to achieve this – notes Patrycja Pirogowicz of Ślązak Zapiór i Partnerzy Tax Doradztwo Podatkowe.
– The use of principles or mechanisms known from games, i.e. gamification, is, at least in smaller companies, still a little-known method of approaching problem-solving, which, however, allows us to gain a new perspective and better understand what our potential customers are driven by, but also to attract new groups of customers we hadn’t thought of before – says Krzysztof Wąsek, a participant in the ‘Learning the Secrets of Customer Experience and Marketing Data Analysis’ training.

The Academy will be ceremonially summed up during the Economic Closing of the Year, where a representative of the Katowice authorities will present diplomas and awards to the most active participants.
