On June 24, the Assembly Hall of Zespół Szkół Elektronicznych i Informatycznych in Sosnowiec hosted an outstanding event titled “From Student to Professional – Our Shared Road to Success.” It was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice, in cooperation with the management of ZSEiL, as part of the “Śląskie. Zawodowcy 2” project. The event was designed for the broad community of stakeholders involved in shaping the regional system of vocational education. Its goal was to foster strong connections between schools, employers, institutions supporting businesses, and local governments.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice was represented by Aleksandra Wanat, Vice-President and expert on regional networks for the project, who emphasized the strategic importance of “Śląskie. Zawodowcy 2” in deepening cooperation between the education sector and businesses, a crucial factor in developing the job market in Silesia. The next speaker was Marzena Wola, President of Zespół Szkół Elektronicznych i Informatycznych in Sosnowiec, who stressed the indispensable role of partnerships between schools and entrepreneurs in ensuring the educational success of students and fostering the development of the local economy.
The meeting was also attended by numerous representatives of public and economic life from the Silesian Voivodeship, including Rafał Adamczyk, Board Member of the Silesian Voivodeship and project leader, as well as Michał Wcisło, Vice-Mayor of Sosnowiec.
The main topic on the agenda was the signing of collaboration agreement between Saint-Gobain and the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology. This agreement aims to continuously strengthen the synergy between vocational education and the needs of the job market.
An integral part of the meeting was the discussion panel, where students had the opportunity to share their experiences from internships carried out as part of the project. They expressed great enthusiasm and emphasized the importance of gaining practical experience, reassessing educational pathways, and having direct contact with the real working environment.
Participants were also invited to attend an inspiring lecture by Dominika Maciołek, educator, coach, and HR consultant, titled “How to Look for Your First Job in a Changing Market and How to Support Youth in Preparing to Enter the Job Market.” The lecturer shared practical recommendations on career planning and provided effective strategies for supporting teenagers in adaptation to the demands of the modern job market.
This event was a significant step towards integrating the educational and business sectors, ultimately leading to a higher quality of vocational education in the Silesia region.
About the „Śląskie. Zawodowcy 2” project
This project is held by Silesian Voivodeship – project Leader, in partnership with institutions supporting businesses, such as Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice, Katowice Special Economic Zone, Chamber of Craft and Small and Medium Businesses in Katowice and higher education institutions, such as Katowice Business University.
The goal of the project is to enhance the quality of vocational education in the Silesia region by adapting the educational offerings to the rapidly changing needs of the job market. The actions taken include comprehensive support for both students and vocational school staff, strengthening the role of universities in shaping educational curricula, and fostering lasting and effective collaboration between schools and employers. This project emphasizes the importance of creating a positive image of vocational education as a crucial element of the local job market.
The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund, as part of the European Funds for Silesia 2021-2027 program.
