Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice continues it’s series of meetings for entrepreneurs, which are an opportunity for knowledge enrichment and making new business contacts. The event was held on November 20 in the hospitable premises of the WSB Academy in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
Open Meeting of the Chamber’s Member Companies, combined with the AWSB MBA Club meeting, was the perfect culmination of the World Entrepreneurship Week, which is celebrated in November.

– The place of our meeting is absolutely not accidental. The event is co-organized by the WSB Academy, where the Chamber’s delegation is located, and co-hosted by Dąbrowa Górnicza, a city that is friendly and open for business – highlighted Tomasz Zjawiony, Presindent of CCi in Katowice, welcoming the gathered guests.
It is worth mentioning that the university is one of the CCI Member Companies and provides substantive support to the institution of economic self-government in the organization of key events.
– I can confidently say, that our friendship has lasted for many years. At the University, we carry out research and development projects, and are authorized to grant habilitation in seven fields of studies. AWSB’s scientific activities are highly appreciated. The people who manage the Chamber’s delegation form the AWSB Centre for Regional Development (CRD), we are building strategies for cities, for the Office of Electronic Communications, large nationwide projects that we want to implement together – explained prof. Marcin Lis, Vice Rector of WSB University, Vice Rector for Student and Community Relations of the WSB University President of the Chamber’s Delegation in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

Participants in the meeting were also welcomed by a representative of the city government.
– Dąbrowa Górnicza invites and supports investors on this difficult road, the goal of which is profitability. The assistance of the local authorities is all the more important because we are closest to the residents, who are employees and employers. Local government, science and business are the triad that guarantees healthy conditions for the functioning and development of entrepreneurship. It is possible to build something on these healthy three foundations, however actions for the future are fraught with great risk – added Wojciech Kędzia, Deputy Mayor of Dąbrowa Górnicza.
The special guest’s lecture was part of these three fundamentals of business development and the theme of risk. Economist Marek Zuber, lecturer at the Executive MBA program at the WSB University, presented the situation and challenges facing the Polish and global economies. To the question posed by the expert: „Recession, inflation – will they stay with us for a long time?” is difficult to find a clear and simple answer.
Without a doubt, the hardest is behind us, but we can’t count on miracles for the next two years! Marek Zuber discussed the most important factors affecting the decline in inflation in Poland and abroad.
– Global raw materials and food became cheaper, some of them even returned to pre-2021 levels. We’re also noting the base effect (we’re comparing ourselves to last year’s very high figures, and much softer ones are coming in), and thanks to the interest rate rise, we’re taking out less loans, consumption is falling, which is also the equivalent of the balance price – meeting demand and sales, which is ultimately inflation – Marek Zuber explained.

However, this does not mean stabilization of the economic and geopolitical situation. The global challenge is the decline in China’s share of global economic growth and the problems facing the Middle Kingdom, such as the risk of deflation, a decline in foreign investment and political tensions between China and Taiwan.
According to the AWSB expert, in the perspective of the coming five years, Poland has to face low fertility rates, causing gaps in the labor market, too low levels of automation and labor activation of middle-aged people, and thus the need to attract foreign workers. Besides, next year’s budget assumes an increase in social transfers and a deficit in the public finance sector.
– We are not facing a catastrophe, we don’t have to fear a second Greece, but these will certainly be difficult years. We should keep an eye on the level of public debt and count on our currency to strengthen after all – concluded the lecturer at the Executive MBA program at the WSB Academy.
The meeting was – as usual – an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest plans of the Katowice Chamber. CCI’s group of experts was expanded to include new projects, among others: Enterprise Energy Optimization Center, ESG Compliance and Digital Competence Center.
An inseparable part of the meeting agenda is the welcoming of new Chamber Member Companies. Representatives of more than a dozen companies received certificates and welcome packets.

After a brief presentation of the specifics of the companies’ operations, the attendees used the remaining time for intensive networking and casual conversation over refreshments.
