The 770th anniversary of the granting of city rights to Bytom and the 20th anniversary of Poland’s entry into the European Union marked the 31st Gala of the Bytom Delegation of the Chamber. During the event, which took place on May 24 at the Silesian Opera House, the activities of the Bytom Delegation in 2023 were summed up, state awards were presented, as well as those granted by the local and economic government.

The event was honored by distinguished guests: representatives of the chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, deputies to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, councilors of the Silesian Parliament, presidents, starosts, mayors, representatives of science, medicine, uniformed services and business organizations from neighboring cities, and, of course, there was no lack of a wide economic community.

The assembled guests were welcomed by Leszek Dziub, President of the RIG Delegation in Bytom, who drew attention to the existing problems with public procurement, unlivable regulations that hinder work and hurt contractors, and the overgrowth of local government administration that causes ever higher costs for their maintenance.

I’m glad to see such a large number of attendees. Especially since there are real entrepreneurs present, who feel best on the production halls, workshops, generally in the field. Recent years have brought us development and progress, raising the standard of living that our generation did not even dream of. We should also learn from what has gone wrong and limits our business. Changing legislation, the government’s Polish Deal program and bureaucracy are the biggest problems for small businesses. The same restrictions and regulations for both small businesses and corporations are the solution for immediate change – postulated the President of the Bytom Delegation.

During the ceremony, state medals awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, were presented. The Golden Cross of Merit was awarded from the hands of Andrzej Dery, Secretary of State in the Office of the President: Aleksandra Zoń-Giebel, Monika Rosijska and Andrzej Rymarczyk.

As early as 1923, it was known that it was necessary to honor people who contribute to the construction and development of our country. The greatest value is sharing work, talent and being guided by the needs of otherssaid Andrzej Dera of the Office of the President of Poland.

One such top EU investment that we can boast of is the modernization of the Silesian Opera House, which has been imbued with technological innovations, such as virtual acoustics, used for the first time in PolandMichal Bieda noted.

Among the special guests at the Bytom Delegation Gala was Tadeusz Donocik. Honorary President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Katowice spoke about the fundamental role of cooperation between different environments – business, local government and science.

As a Chamber, we have shown that we can work hand in hand for more than 30 years. Further challenges lie ahead. When we began to build the framework of the new Poland, we dreamed of joining Europe. It was a civilizational change in the functioning of the state for us. On June 4 we will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the first local elections, which changed the approach to self-government and the role of building civil society. The fight for democracy is not a one-time task, we need to continue to strive for itTadeusz Donocik summed up his speech, appealing to participants to take part in the June 9 elections.
