For the twelfth time, members of the Silesia Convention Bureau consortium met during an event that has been bringing together leaders of the regional meetings industry for three years.

The anniversary edition was unique in several respects – it attracted a record number of participants, involved a record number of partners in its production, and for the first time summarized three years of activity in key figures. The winter edition was hosted by Mercure Szczyrk Resort. I am very happy that, a year and a half after the hotel opened, we were able to host Silesia Meeting Day. I am honored to be able to present the hotel’s capabilities to the regional meetings industry. I appreciate the opportunity for networking, which is the best way to build relationships. I also know that a group of people were eagerly waiting to come and see how this event would be organized here. We managed to create a great meeting! – says Magdalena Mucharska, Sales Director at Mercure Szczyrk Resort.

The unique spaces of this iconic venue hosted an event that evoked very positive emotions and a friendly atmosphere among the guests. The visual aspect also deserves attention – SMD has never had such a professional stage setting in its history. This was all thanks to Coall Group, who were responsible for the technical section. The final effect was surprising and made a very good impression on the guests. During the event, a new entity was admitted to the consortium – Szyb Maciej from Zabrze.

An important part of the substantive section was the presentation by Dr. Krzysztof Cieślikowski, who outlined the assumptions of the project “Market research on business events in the Silesian Province.” As the project contractor, Dr. Cieślikowski encouraged representatives of the meetings industry from the region to actively participate in the research. It is worth noting that this will be the first study of its kind in Poland conducted on a regional scale.

This time, the training part, led by Michał Zalewski from dobrzepowiedziane.pl, was divided into two blocks – a power speech entitled “From sound to influence” and a training workshop entitled “Stories that draw you in.” Both parts strongly engaged the audience. Virtually all reports on key competencies for the future today clearly indicate that communication – including public speaking skills – is becoming one of the most important professional competencies. And not only in the context of looking for a new job, but above all in developing one’s own business and building an expert position. That is why, during the event, representatives of the meetings industry had the opportunity to see that in communication, it is not only “what” we say that matters, but above all “how” we convey the selected content. These competencies are useful not only on stage, but in almost every business situation–  says Michał Zalewski.

The training part was complemented by a sweet touch – a presentation dedicated to chocolate. The presentation and tasting were prepared by Natalia Aurora Urbanek from the Pani Czekolada blog. Participants had the opportunity to taste ruby chocolate, drink a cup of ceremonial cocoa, and learn about the great powers hidden in a small square of chocolate.

As every year, the winter edition of Silesia Meeting Day was a two-day event. The second day was filled with more than just sunshine. Under a cloudless sky, guests took a gondola lift to Hala Skrzyczeńska in Szczyrk. At the Kuflonka restaurant, located at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level, the event partner Szczyrk Mountain Resort talked about its business offer, and GOPR rescuers associated with Hurtownia Adrenaliny organized first aid training for participants.

For three years, Silesia Meeting Day has been proving that the industry needs space for networking and relationship building. This series of meetings not only provides this space and allows participants to learn about the MICE offer in the region, but above all reminds us that together we can achieve much more than alone. That is why it is worth being part of something bigger, adds Agnieszka Węgrzyn-Chwiłkowska, Deputy General Manager at Mercure Katowice Centrum, who has been associated with the Silesia Convention Bureau from the very beginning.
