– Welcome to American Cars Mania! The sound of powerful speakers echoes over Muchowiec Airport.

This is not the plot of an action movie, but the official opening of the largest gathering of enthusiasts of American motoring and culture in Central Europe, which took place in Katowice on June 20-22, 2025. The 12th edition was a success in terms of attendance. A total of 1,903 cars arrived at the rally, including Krzysztof Hołowczyc’s vintage Corvette, who was a special guest of American Cars Mania in the Tyskie Zero zone. The rally driver met with his fans and, together with the mayor of Katowice, Marcin Krupa, participated in the opening of the rally on the main stage. Winged Cadillacs from the 1960s and powerful muscle cars with engines producing up to 1,000 hp stood side by side with Dodge Ram and Ford F150 pickups.
Premiere: Tesla Cybertruck and vintage truck racing
The Tesla Cybertruck had its official Polish premiere at the Tesla Center Katowice stand.
All rally participants and visitors had the opportunity to admire the futuristic pickup truck up close. It was not displayed in a sterile showroom, but on the grass of the Silesian Aeroclub airport. Vintage American trucks raced on the asphalt runway. The powerful Kenworthy and Peterbilt trucks once drove on American highways, and today, carefully restored, they could be seen both during the 1/4 mile competition and up close, standing on the runway and sparkling in the sun with their polished chrome. In the competition for the most interesting American truck, with a prize of $10,000, the winner was a 1989 Peterbilt 379 model.

During Friday’s Texas Day, visitors enjoyed cowboy-style horseback riding demonstrations and lasso shows performed by the American Rodeo Polska team. On the runway, pickup trucks pulled a rope. Under the stage, hay bales and horseshoes were thrown, a wheelbarrow made from a Ford Mustang body was rolled, and weights from a V8 engine block were lifted.
Ghostbusters car – the best special vehicle
The Ghostbusters vehicle, a replica of the car featured in the movie “Ghostbusters” based on a Cadillac Miller-Meteor, was selected as the best special vehicle. The owner of a 1989 Peterbilt 379 won $10,000 in the competition for the most interesting American truck. The main prize, a Cadillac XTS-L limousine, went to Jarosław from Gryfice. Bands playing covers of ZZ Top and Green Day, iconic American bands, performed at the event. The rally was accompanied by a Health and Safe Driving Zone, where each participant could get a free medical examination in the American Cars Mania Foundation’s medical ambulance and use rollover simulators and first aid workshops organized by the Provincial Road Traffic Center in Katowice.
